Summary
The Topic Performance Dashboard provides a topic-level analysis view within a selected course. It aggregates all scored sessions to help managers understand topic mastery, performance gaps, team comparisons, and improvement trends over time.
Unlike course-level dashboards that often calculate averages based on top scores, this dashboard uses all scored sessions to provide a more comprehensive view of performance distribution and learning progression.
How to Use This Dashboard
This dashboard is designed to help managers and stakeholders make quick, educated decisions about topic performance. It surfaces the most important signals (topic averages, trends, and team comparisons) rather than going into deep, line-by-line detail.
If more granular information is needed (for example, user-level results or specific session data), a Topic Breakdown report can be exported and analyzed outside the dashboard.
Who is this for
Company Admins interested in learning about their topic performance
Filters
Course Filter
Only one course can be selected at a time
Default selection: most recently created course
Team Filter
Default view: All Teams
Only the top 4 performing teams are shown by default
One specific team can be selected manually
Time Frame Filter
Controls the reporting period
Trend and distribution data are calculated from the beginning of the selected time frame to the current date
Number of Sessions
Displays the total number of scored sessions for the selected course within the selected time frame.
Important notes:
Multiple sessions can occur on the same course and same topics
All scored sessions are included in calculations
This number directly impacts topic averages and distribution metrics
Practice sessions are not counted and do not affect any score calculations.
Topic List Section
Displays all topics that exist within the selected course.
If a topic appears in more than one role play within the same course, this is clearly indicated.
Each topic row includes:
AVG Score
Average score across all scored attempts
Calculated using all scored sessions (not top attempt only)
Top 25% Benchmark
Average score of the highest-performing 25% of trainees
Used as a benchmark to understand what strong performance looks like
Helps identify whether broader trainee performance can be elevated toward this standard
Trend
Shows score distribution movement over time
Calculated from the start of the selected time frame to today
Indicates whether performance is improving, declining, or stable
Users can click a topic row to open detailed performance widgets.
Selected Topic Widgets
When a topic is selected, the following analytics widgets appear:
1. Topic Score Distribution
Shows distribution of scored sessions across score ranges.
Example:
150 sessions in the 0–40 range
230 sessions in the 41–70 range
This helps identify clustering patterns and performance spread.
2. Topic Strength by Team
Displays the top 4 performing teams and the score differences between them.
Important:
Users not assigned to any team are grouped under Unattributed
This ensures all users are included and comparable
This widget supports quick identification of high-performing and underperforming teams.
3. Topic Performance Over Time
Compares team performance across the selected time frame.
Time range is divided into 7 predefined time segments
Each team’s performance is plotted across those segments
Enables side-by-side comparison of improvement trends
Useful for identifying momentum shifts or coaching impact.
4. Practice vs Performance (Quadrant View)
Displays teams in a quadrant-style visualization comparing:
Volume of sessions (practice intensity)
Average score (performance quality)
Interpretation example:
Top-right quadrant = high score with low number of sessions
Other quadrants reflect different practice/performance dynamics
The widget automatically adjusts based on available team data.
Exports
Topic breakdown report (same as the one from the More Data tab)
Topic breakdown aggregated report
Topic overview PDF
This will export a PDF with all information on all of the topics in the course that was selected, and all of the performance across the widgets.
Scoring Logic Clarification
This dashboard calculates averages differently than course-level dashboards.
Topic Dashboard logic:
Uses all scored sessions
Course Dashboard logic:
Often uses only the top attempt per trainee for average calculations
EU Data Privacy Limitation
For EU accounts with performance visibility restrictions:
Metrics are only shown when 5 or more trainees are included in the dataset
If fewer trainees are present, values may appear hidden or unavailable
Q&A
Q: Do practice sessions affect the dashboard?
A: No. Practice sessions are excluded from all calculations.
Q: Why might topic averages differ from course averages?
A: Because this dashboard includes all scored sessions, not only each trainee’s highest score.
